ABOUT THE UAE

The United Arab Emirates was established on 2 December 1971. The seven emirates of the UAE are Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah. The President and Vice President of the UAE are elected by the Federal Supreme Council, which comprises the Rulers of the seven emirates.   
 
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed is the third President of the UAE and the Ruler of Abu Dhabi. His father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, considered the Founding Father of the UAE, served as the country’s first President from 1971 to 2004. He was succeeded by the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who served as President of the UAE from 2004 to 2022.
